International Festival

A week ago Hayley was able perform with her Chinese class at the huge International Festival downtown.  They sang and danced, dressed in cute Chinese costumes.  Hayley had a great time.

Afterwards, she and Don were able to wander around and see some cool things, and taste a couple of unique dishes.  Hayley was stopped several times by people taking her picture and telling her how cute she looked, including a photographer for a local Chinese paper.  It was a fun day!

OUTSTANDING!

The end of the school year brings lots of end of school programs. The last week of school both Trevor and Hayley had award ceremonies in which they "advanced" to the next grade. Both Trevor and Hayley had several certificates, including outstanding student for each of them.

In addition to her many other end of school year awards, Hayley received the Outstanding Chinese Student of the Year award for her entire grade. Hayley is a great student and her teachers all love having her in class.

Xin Nian Kuai Le! (Happy New Year!)

This week Trevor and Hayley were able to perform in a couple of Chinese New Year Celebrations.

Friday they had a big Chinese New Year Celebration at school.
Hayley's class sang a Happy New Year Song.

Trevor was the Narrator for the 3rd grade Chinese class of dancers.

Then we got to see the Dragon Dancers perform.

The crowd went wild...including Jake with his lucky Chinese coin they gave him!

Today Trevor and Hayley performed at the Chinese Community Center, again singing and narrating. They did a great job!

After their performances, we walked around the celebration outside and they decided to go fishing....because that is exactly what we need, 3 MORE fish!

We ended the evening by getting Chinese Take-Out and everyone having fun together.

These are the days

December has been a blur. We've had lots of basketball games for Michael and Trevor, a school band concert for Michael, language Winter performances for Trevor & Hayley, Christmas caroling to a nursing home for Michael and the church youth, Christmas caroling in the neighborhood for the Cub Scouts and families for Trevor, doctors appointments, birthday parties, Don in Germany for part of the time, teaching Jake's preschool, plus the normal daily activities like gymnastics, piano, homework, etc. Add to it all, getting ready for Christmas and making special treats for friends, neighbors and teachers, and we are having a blast!

Here are a few shots of the school activities...

SCHOOL PARTIES...Holiday Bingo, Decorating Cookies, Limbo and more!

We have had a lot of fun memories made but it is also nice that school is now out for 2 weeks and things will slow down as we enjoy this special time of year with each other!
