Grammy's Tree

Sunday afternoon we went to Don's parents for the annual tradition of decorating their Christmas tree. Grammy is one brave woman with lots of beautiful, breakable ornaments that she trusts these wild ones to decorate with. It is always a fun time and everyone has their favorites they love to hang on the tree.



Now if we can just figure out a time when everyone is home to set our tree up!

Thanksgiving Fun

We had a great Thanksgiving in Dallas where all the Bowman clan gathered together for the first time in years. It was fun to see old cousins reunite and meet our newest addition, Issac. We had a blast eating fabulous food, playing, hiking, jumping, dancing, staying up late talking and we were even able to hit up Six Flags late Friday afternoon and check out their Holiday in the Park. It all went by way too fast and before we knew it, we were home and now it's December!!

On days of home basketball games, the team has to dress up in a shirt and tie...just like the pros! Michael was looking good this morning as he headed off to school.

Trevor also got to dress up today. He had a school project where he had to research a passenger on the Mayflower, write, draw & dress up like them to present to the class. He picked John Alden since he is one of his many descendants. Looking good John/Trevor!



It has been fun to do Thanksgiving school projects with Hayley and Trevor this year as they keep recalling fun things from our trip to Plymouth Plantation this summer and using their experiences as part of their school projects. I love it!

First Game

Trevor played in his first basketball game ever Saturday. Since he wanted to stay with his same soccer team from the fall, he is actually now playing up a level in the 10-11 yr old league. But the fact that his feet don't even touch the ground as he sits on the bench, doesn't deter his spirit one bit. Trevor played several times during the game and played some fierce defense, even causing a turnover and a steal. It will be a fun season to watch.

Baby Talk

I've had a lot of questions about our upcoming addition to the family, so here we go...

We are due April 18th, so I am about 4 months along now. I went to my awesome doctor again yesterday & everything is looking good. I had some blood work done & should get the results back soon.

Next week we will have an ultrasound and hopefully find out whether we are getting a boy or a girl. It is pretty divided around here, with Hayley leading the chants of NEEDING a sister! Of course, we do have some strong requests for another brother. So it should be interesting.

We have had all sorts of fun names being suggested, especially by our Star Wars crazed fan, Jake. I am sure you can imagine some of his requests! Once we have the ultrasound, we post a paper on the fridge and let everyone write down possible baby names they like for the next few months. When I was pregnant with Jake, there were all sorts of animal names that kept being added to the list, like Bear and Tiger. And of course, the list included our ultimate winner of Jake the Snake (ok, the birth certificate actually just says Jacob, which Jake REFUSES to answer to! He is Jake or Jake the Snake and don't you forget it!). So beware of the power of the pen, it is real!

I've been feeling good, just tired. I am one of the really fortunate ones who only feels really queasy if I don't eat on a regular basis. Unfortunately food doesn't always sound great, or maybe it is just the thought of making dinner that isn't appealing right now, who knows?! But the kids are great sports and don't mind the quick frozen foods and actually love to have cereal for dinner occasionally :)

Soup's On

After a drizzly, rainy day it seemed like a perfect day for soup and homemade rolls for dinner. So as we are enjoying our late dinner together, the following conversation occurred:

Trevor: "Mom, what's the difference between chopped beef and split pea soup?"

Me: "I don't know, you don't put chopped beef in soup?"

Trevor: "Well, anyone can chop beef but nobody can pee soup!"

Wild laughter erupts from all of the other kids and even Don starts to chuckle. Apparently the soup joke was familiar to them, and Trevor's comedic timing was perfect. And I wonder why we don't have people over to dinner more often...

A Cure for the Afterschool Rainy Day Blahs

Putting on swimming suits and jumping on the trampoline in the rain...and yes, it is November.

Good thing the rain cooled it down to about 70 here. They had a blast!
