5th Grade Camp

Trevor went away to 5th grade camp last week.  He spent with week in a cabin with 11 other 5th grade boys from 3 different schools.  They did fun activities like horseback riding and canoeing, and other things that weren't quite so fun like 3 mile hikes.  Trevor survived eating camp food and came home with a greater appreciation of a homecooked meal!  He was pretty tired and happy to be home, and we were happy to have him back.  It was awfully quiet without our Trevor around to make us laugh so much at the dinnertable!

Hayley, Jake and Luke made Trevor a Welcome Home sign and hung it on the window for Trevor to see when he got home.  His smile when he saw the sign was priceless.  We love you Trevor!

Random Stripes and Bubbles

A couple of weeks ago it was spring picture day at school.  For some random reason, everyone, including Luke who wasn't involved in picture day, ended up in stripes.  When we realized it, we took a quick picture on the way to school. We missed Michael who had already left for school, but he was a solid anyway :)

Last week we had fun after school playing in the backyard with bubbles. Luke loves bubbles but we rarely get them out, so it was a fun mid-week treat. Hayley was the queen of the Bubble Wand!

Springtime means Parks!

Springtime is the perfect perfect park weather here.  Last week we took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent several afternoons at the park.  One day I had the camera and got a couple of fun pictures.  The older kids are so great with Luke, playing with him, picking flowers for him & pushing him on the swings.  I did have to draw the line with Jake - no underdogs on the swings with Luke...even if "Luke loves it!"  My heart can't handle it!

Trevor had friends at the basketball courts next to the park so Jake got a couple of shots of Trevor hoopin' it up, as well as a few other interesting shots...my favorite being this one of his shadow!

Go Texan Day!

Today is Go Texan Day in Houston, signaling the beginning of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, one of our favorite things.  Just about everywhere you went today including the grocery store and library, you saw people showing their Texas Pride.  Of course, some preferred the bandit side of things. Jake actually wanted to wear his bandanna over his face in Kroger's, thinking people would be scared of him.

The kids got to dress Texan for school and watch the Trail Riders ride into town,  passing their school this morning.  It is always fun to watch the kids get excited about the horses, wagons and "real cowboys".

It's Trevor's week to have the flu (Hayley and Jake were hit with it last week), so he missed out on most of the fun.

Luckily, Luke had enough Texan Spirit today for both of them!

JIMMER TIME!

We had a blast watching BYU beat TCU. The sold out crowd was 3/4 BYU fans, which made it even more fun. Michael went early and watched the teams warm up.

Even Luke got into the action, dancing, cheering and clapping his hands.  He loved sitting next to Grandmommie and Anna and making silly faces.

After the game we were able to go hear BYU's head coach, Dave Rose and 2 of the freshman players, Kyle Collinsworth and Logan Magnusson speak for a couple of minutes.

Collinsworth announced his mission call to Russia, which got as loud of a cheer as the players did.

As Magnusson was leaving, he gave Jake a high five.

After we left the field house, we stopped at the bus and waited for the team to leave for the airport, giving one more cheer for our mighty Cougars!

Quick Trip

This week-end we made a quick trip to Dallas, despite Hayley still recovering from the flu.  She was a real trooper & thank goodness, no one else has gotten sick!  We had fun playing with cousins and seeing grandparents and aunts & uncles.

We got to take in lots of basketball games on Saturday.  First watching Alex, then Abby play in their games.

After Abby's game we headed to TCU to watch the BYU/TCU basketball game.  We had a blast watching Jimmer & the Cougars play.

After the game we headed back to Bob & Cynthia's for a fun pizza party where we ate, played games and even watched a little more Allstar basketball.

We came home Sunday afternoon, so it was a super short trip, but full of great memories!
