Halloween

Pirates are all the rage around these parts, so it wasn't too hard to come up with Halloween costumes this year.

Our Pirates

Michael joined us at the church trunk or treat, dressing up a little on his own...nice glasses!

The whole gang

We spent Halloween at the church's trunk or treat, then went real trick or treating to a couple of neighbor's houses. Everyone had gotten enough candy pretty early and were ready to call it a night.

So we headed home to sort candy while watching "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", one of our favorite yearly traditions.

Pumpkin Fun

Jake's 1st grade class did some fun math experiments with pumpkins on Friday. They measured different sized pumpkins, cleaned the goop and seeds out of the pumpkins, counting games with the seeds and just had lots of fun.

Fun with pumpkin guts

We also carved our pumpkin this week-end. Jake and Hayley spent a long time drawing sketches of what he should look like. Luke had fun scooping out the insides.

Meet our Pumpkin Pirate!

Blowing out the candle was one of Luke's favorite things to do.

Hauntings

It's an exciting time of year, filled with Halloween parties and fun.  Last week-end we started the festivities with a fun party at the YMCA, complete with haunted houses, bouncy houses, fortune telling, spooky eyeballs and more.

Jake loves his new eyeball!

Hayley loved the haunted house, going twice!

Saturday night Michael went to a fun Halloween dance.  I just got a quick phone picture of him coming home late that night, styling in his orange tie and matching shoes.

Happy Halloween

We had a week-end full of Halloween fun.  Friday night we finally went and picked out our pumpkin.  There were lots of fun ones to choose from.

Saturday morning it was time to carve.  Jake designed the face and Hayley, Jake & Luke had a blast with goop and seeds.  Luke thought it was funny to dump the container of seeds back into the pumpkin when we were just about finished.

Saturday night was a fun trunk or treat at the church.

The cast: a jedi, a pirate, a cowboy, and a cheerleader

Jake went as Obi-Wan this year again, sticking with the Star Wars theme of the last 4 years.

Hayley cheered us on all night long!

Trevor plundered all night long.

Luke was one of many Woody's there...although he was an original,
wearing Michael's costume from 12 years ago when the 1st Toy Story came out!

Luke finally figuring out what it is all about!

Jake & his best buddy Emmy, still trying to "hit the jackpot!"

Trev's bounty was over 16 pounds! (Hayley was close behind with 15 lbs!)

Sunday afternoon we had fun separating and counting the good stuff while watching a Halloween movie together.

Hundreds of pieces of candy...Sweet dreams for sure!

Hope your Halloween was spooktackular too!

YMCA Halloween

Friday night we went to our YMCA's annual Halloween party.  It was a fun night of games, pumpkin painting, haunted houses, fortune telling and face painting.  Jake was so excited after his fortune was read.  Apparently he is going to be president one day.  Woohoo!

And of course, we went on your typical Halloween live camel rides!

Jake and Trevor had a blast.

Hayley loved the dancing and hula hoop contests.

Luke had fun just watching everything and trying to snag his brothers lollipops all night.

Let the hauntings begin!

Surgeon General's New Warning

I'm not sure how he did it, but Trevor had more candy than all of the other kids combined...like 4 times as much candy. He went with the good ole' pillow case and said he weighed it when he came home and it was 10 pounds. I believe it! He was lovin' it...for about 24 hours.

Then came the groaning and the massive stomachache. As Trevor looked up at me with a pained face, he said:

"You know, you just shouldn't mix your candies. Tootsie Rolls and SweetTarts just don't mix well together!"

A week later, and I still don't think he has eaten another piece of candy. So a warning to all, read your labels and be careful mixing your candy!!

The After Party

One of the best parts of Halloween is the after party...the dumping and sorting of the loot after trick-or-treating is over. We stick on Charlie Brown's The Great Pumpkin and go to town, sorting, swapping and eating.

Hayley was pretty excited about her candy.

Tired Jake...

No candy for Luke but he did grab a loose skeleton and drooled on it for a while
