Got Character?

On Tuesday Hayley came home from school wearing a Character ribbon. She had been nominated for the first grade as the Character Star of the Week. The weekly school newsletter said she was a "Helpful & Kind" Character at school...just like she is at home.!

Great job Hayley!

Mother's Day Fun

Nothing says Mother's Day like breakfast in bed with all the kids! We had fun sharing bagels and fruit. Then it was off to Luke's first day of church. Michael was one of the youth speakers at church that day, and he gave a wonderful talk about mothers...thank you Michael!

Later that afternoon we had a delicious dinner with Don's family. We are surrounded by so many great women to learn from and love. I was able to talk to my mom on the phone, and am so grateful for the blessings of motherhood!

Going Green

The 3rd grade put on a funny play for Earth Day and Trevor played his favorite part, the Narrator. As always, he did a fabulous job!

Field Day

It's that time of the school year, when all the testing is done and the real fun starts! Who doesn't love a great Field Day, spending hours outside competing in obstacle courses, water balloon tosses, sack races and much, much more...including cooling off with yummy frozen treats. Hayley and Trevor had a blast, and Jake even got in on some of the action of the morning.

And of course, Trevor kept up the family tradition of volunteering to fill up a gajillion water balloons for his class the night before. Great...what is it with our family and water balloons???!! Just a warning to anyone planning to visit soon, Jake is already planning the water balloon fight of the summer and was very excited to see us "practicing" filling them up for field day! Good times :)

Bug Off

Everyone has lots of love to give their baby brother Luke, especially Jake. Jake is constantly in Luke's face, giving him kisses and touching him. After telling him for the hundredth time to move back and give Luke some space, Jake replied to me:

"I just can't help it. I love him so much that I have to bug him. It's what I do! When you love people, you have to bug them!"

Wise words from a 4 year old...let's hope he remembers that when he is a teenager and I repeat those words back to him :)

Meeting the Family

When Luke was 10 days old, my brother Bob & his family & younger brother Ben made a crazy one day trip down from Dallas to meet the new addition to the family. It was so great to have them visit for a few hours. Luke was so impressed, he slept most of the time they were here, taking it all in stride :)

It's so fun to have the cousins together, the worst was saying good-bye after a few hours when they normally get to spend a few days together. Thanks for spending 8+ hours in a car to see us for a couple hours - you guys rock! Come back soon!

First Bath

Once Luke's cord fell off, it was finally time for a real bath.

He loved it!
