Trees, Games and Fun

= a visit from Grandpa and Grandmommie!

This week-end my parents came for a quick visit. While they were here, we climbed trees, played lots of games like Uno & Candyland, ate great food, watched Trevor's soccer game, went swimming/hot tubbing and performed in a rockin' Primary program (which Don's parents were also able to come to).

We LOVE having all our grandparents in Texas with us!!

Remembering Gib

This month Don's Uncle Gilbert passed away. I first met Gib in DC right before Don & I got married, and instantly I felt of his sweet, gentle love for family. He was always smiling and laughing, and had a great sense of humor. When Michael and his grandson Thomas were just a year or 2 old, he used to put them on top of the fridge and walk away and laugh at the mommas' (& Mimi's!) reactions. The boys loved it of course. The funeral was a peaceful celebration of his life, filled with remembrances of funny stories. We are grateful for the knowledge that families are eternal and that Gib is once again united with his beautiful sweetheart.

6 months old!

6 months has flown by and Luke has etched his way into all of our hearts, we can't imagine how life was without his sweet smile. There isn't a day that goes by without everyone getting their share of slobbery kisses and goofy grins from "lucky Luke". He is everybody's favorite and is so easygoing. It is hard to get a picture of just Luke, but we try!

Our sweet baby is sitting great now & is trying to move around a little. Luke has elastic arms and is always grabbing farther than we think he can and loves to put things in his mouth.

Luke loves food and we can't feed him fast enough. He starts hyperventalating when he sees a spoon or bottle. Luke weighed in this month at 16lbs 2 oz & 28 inches long and it has been said many times, that baby has "a huge head"...to hold his gigantic brain of course :)

Best Buddies

Jake just loves his little brother Luke, his "best buddy".

He helps take care of him & loves to feed him.



While the others are at school, Jake often incorporates Luke into his play time.



I just never know what I might find them doing.

One day Jake was teaching Luke about Star Wars & lightsabers.

It's awfully fun to be a big brother!

Setting Sail

A few weeks ago Trevor's Scout troop had the Rain Gutter Regatta. They each made a boat and had fun sailing at the big race. It was a beautiful night to hang out and cheer on the sailors.




Afterwards they got to carry on the tradition of eating ice cream
out of the rain gutter, although, much to Trevor's disappointment, the ice cream was put in a bowl before it was put on the rain gutter. But they still ate it up!

Family Field Day

We had a fun Primary Activity a couple of weeks ago - a Family Field Day!

We missed Michael who was at a Scout Merit Badge Camp but we did our best to represent our family. It was a fun morning of games like the 3-legged race, water balloon toss, spoon relay and more. The matching shirts different families wore were fun to see and the popsicles at the end were the perfect treat on a muggy Houston morning.

Nearing his 5th birthday Jake is. Time to complete his Jedi training it is.

The Jedi Training Course
• "Dagobah" tunnel and obstacle course

• Walk over Hot Lava (Episode 3)

• Space Ship Landing Practice(who can land a frisbee ship into one of 2 hoola hoops)

• Feed Jabba the Hut(bean bag game)

• Light Saber Training (Keep balloon off the ground with lightsaber made from swimming noodle.)

• Save Princess Leia (Put a figurine of Princes Leia in a balloon & blow it up. Mix up balloon with other balloons. Jedi must rescue her by popping all the balloons to find Leia.)

• Gungan Water Balloon Fight (knock over the droids stacking cups with water balloons)

• Release Han Solo from the Carbonate (Freeze two Han solo figurines in a rectangular container filled with water. Jedi’s must release Han from his icy prison in water relay race.)

After becoming a Jedi, it was time for lunch at the Cantina.
The Menu included Hoth Dogs, X-Wing Fighters, Astroid Cheetoes, Greedo's Grapes, Wookie Water, Jar Jar's Juice, and of course YODA SODA!

Lightsaber Cake and Death Star Cake Balls were also served.

The young Jedi had time to play and watch a little Clone Wars before they departed with their Star Wars Pez dispenser and lightsaber on their motherships.
