Leaving for the hospital after the kids go to school
Enjoying those contractions...fun stuff.
I had been having irregular contractions since Tuesday, so by Thursday morning we were ready to have this baby. My doctor broke my water at 12:30sh and sweet Luke was born at 2:38 pm after just a few pushes and two fabulous coughing spells, darn cough! He made his grand entrance face up and both shoulders popping through at once.
Luke Turner Mangum had arrived!
After spending some time together, Don followed Luke up to the nursery where he got cleaned up and checked out. Luke continued his superior kicking skills that I have experienced for months now, and got the ink everywhere when they did his sweet footprints.
After a couple hours, we moved over to a new room & the gang all arrived with my mom while I was talking to our pediatrician who had just checked Luke out. After saying hi to the kids & talking to them as they all washed their hands (with Jake keeping a respectful distance away from the doctor, remembering all too well his last shots!), the doctor left. Luke still wasn't in the room yet, and Jake took one look at me & said, "What, you still haven't had him yet??!" We laughed and explained where the baby was & then the nurse brought him in. I thought Jake was literally going to pop out of his skin, he was so excited. Everyone hovered around close, and eventually, everyone had a chance to hold their new brother.
FIRST FAMILY PICTURE
Don's parents came to hospital when everyone was still there, so Luke got to meet 3 of his 4 grandparents that night. My dad had a business trip, but Jake gave Grandmommie strict orders when she left yesterday, that she was supposed to drive home & get Grandpa and come back soon!
